We are seeking a PCB Design Engineer with strong expertise in schematic capture, PCB layout design, and in-depth knowledge of Orcad and Expedition PCB design tools.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing printed circuit boards (PCBs) for high-performance hardware products, ensuring they meet electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability standards.
Key Responsibilities : - Schematic Design and Capture : Develop detailed schematic designs for complex hardware systems, selecting appropriate components and ensuring optimal connectivity and performance.
- PCB Layout Design : Create PCB layouts for multi-layered boards using Orcad and Expedition, adhering to design specifications, signal integrity requirements, and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Component Placement & Routing : Optimize the placement of components and routing of signals to meet electrical constraints, thermal performance, and mechanical form factors.
- Design Rule Checking (DRC) and Signal Integrity : Perform DRC and signal integrity analysis to ensure that PCB designs meet industry standards, minimizing noise, crosstalk, and ensuring high-speed signal performance.
- PCB Design Tools Expertise : Utilize Orcad for schematic capture and Expedition PCB for layout design, including creating and managing libraries, netlists, and BOM (Bill of Materials).
- PCB Design Optimization : Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to optimize PCB designs for cost, performance, and ease of production.
- Gerber File Generation & Documentation : Generate Gerber files and comprehensive design documentation for fabrication and assembly of PCBs.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Test (DFT) : Ensure PCB layouts comply with DFM and DFT guidelines to streamline manufacturing processes and testing during product development.
- Component Library Management : Manage and maintain component libraries within PCB tools, ensuring accuracy and compatibility with vendor specifications.
- Cross-functional Collaboration : Work closely with hardware engineers, signal integrity experts, and manufacturing teams to ensure that the PCB designs meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
- Prototype Support : Assist in the prototyping and testing of PCB designs, including debugging and iterative design improvements.
Required Skills and Experience : - Expertise in PCB schematic capture and layout design using Orcad and Expedition PCB.
- Strong knowledge of multi-layer PCB design, including high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits.
- Experience in component placement and signal routing to optimize performance, signal integrity, and thermal management.
- Proficiency in performing Design Rule Checks (DRC), signal integrity, and power integrity analysis.
- Experience generating Gerber files and ensuring all documentation is complete for PCB fabrication and assembly.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, including DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Test) principles.
- Experience with PCB rework and debugging tools for prototype testing and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with component footprints, PCB stack-up, and via technologies (blind/buried vias, microvias).
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations in PCB design.
Preferred Qualifications : - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in PCB design and layout for high-performance systems.
- Familiarity with high-speed interfaces (e.g., DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet) and RF PCB design.
- Experience working with Altium Designer is a plus.
- Understanding of HDI (High-Density Interconnect) PCB designs.
- Knowledge of flex and rigid-flex PCB design.
