Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network and Cloud Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team in Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IP Networking within GSM Technology, extensive experience managing cloud operations on Microsoft Azure , and deep expertise in VMware virtualization technologies. This role requires hands-on expertise in designing and managing Azure environments, including S2 S VPN creation, Azure Virtual WAN, and Azure Hub configurations. A valid CCIE (Routing and Switching) certification is mandatory, and additional certifications in VMware will be considered a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage Site-to-Site (S2 S) VPN connections between on-premises infrastructure and Azure Cloud environments. Configure and maintain Azure Virtual WAN for scalable and secure network connectivity across multiple locations.
- Manage and optimize Azure Virtual Networks (VNets) , subnets, and routing tables for high availability and performance.
- Implement and troubleshoot Azure Hub and Spoke architectures to ensure efficient traffic flow and centralized security policies.
- Monitor and enhance Azure Firewall configurations, ensuring compliance with organizational security standards. Deploy and manage Azure Virtual Machines (VMs) and other Paa S services, ensuring seamless integration with on-premises systems. Automate routine tasks using tools like Power Shell , Azure CLI , or Terraform to improve operational efficiency.
- Design and manage robust IP Networking solutions with a focus on GSM technology and protocols. Configure and maintain firewalls , with experience in Sonic Wall firewalls being a plus. Troubleshoot complex networking issues, including routing, switching, and security policies. Ensure network security and compliance by implementing best practices for firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and encryption protocols. Administer and troubleshoot VMware v Sphere environments , including ESXi hosts , v Center Server , and v Motion for workload mobility. Manage VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) and High Availability (HA) clusters to ensure optimal resource utilization and fault tolerance.
- Perform VMware VM migrations (cold, live, and storage v Motion) to balance workloads and improve performance. Configure and maintain VMware NSX for software-defined networking (SDN) and micro-segmentation. Monitor and optimize VMware Horizon environments for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments. Implement and manage VMware backup and recovery solutions such as Veeam or native VMware tools.
- Experience working on Macro integrations on Verizon systems is must Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and support hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network architecture, cloud deployments, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical leadership in diagnosing and resolving complex network, cloud, and virtualization-related issues.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in networking, cloud technologies, and industry best practices. Additional certifications in VMware (e.g., VCP-DCV, VCIX, or VCDX). Experience with Sonic Wall firewalls or similar enterprise-grade firewall solutions. Familiarity with automation tools such as Power Shell , Python , or Terraform for cloud and network management. Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on technical projects
Experience:
- 5-7years of experience as Network and Cloud Operations Engineer
- Curiosity and versatility to work on different technologies and adapt to new challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the team and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in the telecommunications industry.
- CCIE (Routing & Switching) – Mandatory
- Proven experience in Azure network design & operations
- Strong command over VMware virtualization technologies
- Deep understanding of GSM-related networking
- Hands-on experience with automation tools like Power Shell, Terraform, or Python
- Experience with firewalls, preferably Sonic Wall
- Exposure to Verizon Macro integrations is a must
Preferred Certifications (
Having any of the following certifications will be an added advantage:
- VMware Certifications – VCP-DCV, VCIX, or VCDX
- Microsoft Azure Certifications – AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AZ-700 (Network Engineer), or AZ-305 (Solutions Architect)
- Firewall Certifications – Sonic Wall Network Security Professional (SNSP) or equivalent
- Automation & Dev Ops – Certifications in tools like Terraform, or scripting expertise in Power Shell/Python
Preferred Availability:
- We are looking for someone who can join immediately or within a month.
Work Schedule:
- This role will primarily involve night shift hours, operating in alignment with Eastern Standard Time (EST).
