The PositionThe Cloud DevOps Engineering team globally serves our internal Roche customers and IT partners designing, building and operating modern distributed systems on a Public and private Cloud Infrastructure globally (Europe, NALA and APAC). Working with the latest technologies in a fast-paced engineering environment as an Expert Cloud DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for leading technically a Cloud DevOps team and overseeing day-to-day Managed Service of customer environments, including customer service management, managed services operations and consistent product improvement engineering. Collaboration with customers, product engineering and operations is critical to success.Job responsibilities Technical Expert to lead local team and collaborate with global team on technical decisions/deliverables/priorities. Look for continuous improvement activities both in technical, teamwork, collaboration and processes areas. Propose continuous improvement activities. Identify and measure team health indicators. Consult with leaders and employees to build and produce reports using query and flexible reporting tools that address business needs and identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvements. Implement disciplined engineering and operation processes. Represent the Cloud Devops Engineering team with respect to stakeholders, customers, and external teams. Ensure the Cloud DevOps Engineering focuses on priorities, milestones and deliverables as per direction of the product management team. Support the Cloud DevOps Engineering team on technical decisions. Work to meet SLAs on customer deployments in a global environment. Oversee managed services in a consistent, timely manner. Be part of the technical solution team focusing on maintaining services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability and overall system health and improving the reliability of the IT Infrastructure. Collaborate with clients, other IT departments and managed service suppliers in the design and delivery of complex Cloud IT Solutions. Serves as a technical point of contact for highly complex enterprise wide technologies. Leads complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis. Participates in the hiring process of the Cloud DevOps Engineering team ( help to define profiles & evaluation of skills). Support onboarding of new joiners.Job skills required Strong interpersonal skills. Well demonstrated customer & delivery focus. Excellent scripting and automation skills with expertise in delivering and managing infrastructure as code. Ability to work effectively with team members and virtual teams from different locations and different cultural backgrounds. Ability to function independently with very little supervision and navigate ambiguity. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to the individual's field. Defines and promotes standards, guidelines and policies for the use and integration of Cloud services with the rest of the areas. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Essential effective oral and written communication skills in English. Moderate travel required and flexibility to work across multiple time zones. Punctual assistance on maintenance out of business hours.Education / Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience in information technology environment (networking, infrastructure, database). You will bring 7+ years of relevant work experience in one or more multinational work environments (e.g. healthcare industry experience is a plus)Technology Skills: Must have: Recent experience/exposure designing, implementing, operating infrastructure or designing hybrid multi cloud solutions in Public Cloud Platforms (AWS preferred but also valid Azure/GCP experience). Experience with containers and serverless AWS services : EKS, Lambda, AWS ECR. Intermediate Cloud Networking experience with VPC subnets, Security Groups, Transit Gateway, Network Firewall. Application Networking experience with AWS API Gateway, NLB/ALB. DevOps Pipeline Automation: Gitlab CI/CD. Nice to have: Preferred to be certified AWS Architect Professional or equivalent working knowledge on AWS environments. Other containers/serverless services knowledge : K8s, Docker. Other DevOps Pipeline Automation knowledge: Jenkins, ArgoCD. Knowledge of data visualization tools ( i.e. Tableau). Experience with modern tools in the Agile Software Development Life Cycle. Experience with Version Control Systems ( GitHub, Git, Stash/Bitbucket) Experience with knowledge management systems ( i.e. Confluence, Google Docs).
