Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to develop and maintain robust data pipelines, data models, and analytics infrastructure.
You will play a key role in enabling our team to access reliable, scalable, and clean data for analytics, reporting, and product intelligence.
This is a hands-on position where your contributions will directly impact how Sapience understands and supports student learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Data Infrastructure & Pipeline Development Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, dbt, or similar Work with structured and semi-structured data from a variety of sources including databases, APIs, and flat files Create and manage data warehouses and data lakes on platforms such as Big Query, Redshift, or Snowflake Data Modeling & Optimization Develop and maintain efficient, scalable, and reusable data models Optimize query performance and ensure high data quality and reliability Implement data validation and error-handling mechanisms Collaboration & Integration Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to understand data needs Collaborate on the integration of analytics tools and dashboards (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Metabase)Ensure data governance, security, and compliance protocols are followed Qualifications and Experience 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role Proficient in SQL and Python (or similar scripting language)Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, etc.)Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and normalization principles Experience integrating data from APIs, relational databases, and flat files Knowledge of version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Ability to work independently and collaborate in a remote-first team environment Compensation and Work Hours Salary: $1,000 USD per month (based on experience and expertise)Work Schedule: Full-time, aligned with Pacific Standard Time (PST)Why Join Sapience?
