The hub will provide the following services: Engineering and drafting Technical writing Customer technical support Technical project support About the role We're excited to announce that we're seeking applicants for the position of Design Engineer. This role will be a foundation team member of the new Hyderabad, India hub. The Design Engineer is responsible for designing and drafting activities related to new and existing products at Orica. This includes creating engineering components and assemblies, enhancing the design of current products, contributing to the development of new products, and generating detailed drawings for both mechanical and electrical aspects. In addition, the Design Engineer will lead a team of drafts people (two direct reports initially), with potential for expansion in the future. What you will be doing As a member of the Hyderabad hub team, you will be working collaboratively with Scientists, Engineers, Developers, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and other resource industry Subject Matter Experts around the globe to continuously ship value to our customers. You will: Support the development of new products and technology in compliance with Orica safety and legal requirements and using best practice risk management techniques (JSERAs, Hazard studies, HIRACS, FMECA, etc.). Ensure the team's work meets or exceeds required quality standards and protects any intellectual property generated by the team. Act as a liaison to support Technology and business objectives and manages projects efficiently and within budget. Incorporate safety into designs and working methods for new and current products, as well as prototype assembly and integration with software systems. Create clear and precise manufacturing documentation, including BOMs, assembly instructions, drawing packs, QC, and test instructions. Develop solutions that meet cross-functional stakeholder requirements, such as product reliability, manufacturability, cost, and time to market. Create clear and precise documentation to support the development of training material for the maintenance and usage of Orica products. Apply effective problem-solving techniques to assist Orica support teams in resolving product issues (Level 4 Support). What you will bring Proficiency in English language (both oral and written) which is the global business language of Orica A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant Engineering field such as Mechanical, Mechatronic, etc. At least three (3) years of experience in a commercial environment Experience in leading a team is highly desirable. Proficiency in designing mechanical components and assemblies, including supplier documentation, BoM, 3D modelling, etc. Product design experience, including designing, prototyping, and testing complex engineering equipment and/or systems. Competency in Computer Aided Design using SolidWorks. A Professional Engineer (or equivalent) certification is preferred. Experience in electrical drafting, such as cable drawings, is beneficial.
