Job Title: Risk and Compliance Principal Consultant
Role Overview:
As a Risk and Compliance Principal Consultant at The Digital Fifth, the role involves working closely to deliver advisory and implementation projects for Banks, NBFCs, fintechs,
and other financial institutions. The candidate will contribute to designing policy frameworks,
conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, with
opportunities for growth into senior consulting roles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Advisory
Lead and drive end-to-end risk and compliance engagements across BFSI clients, aligning with regulatory frameworks such as RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, NPCI, and evolving data protection laws.
Act as a trusted advisor to CXOs and senior stakeholders on regulatory strategy, risk posture, and governance frameworks.
2. Program Delivery & Implementation
Own and deliver large-scale compliance and risk transformation programs, including RBI Master Directions, Digital Lending Guidelines, ISO 27001, Business Continuity Planning (BCP), DPDPA, and Information Security frameworks.
Ensure seamless execution from diagnostic assessments to implementation, monitoring, and regulatory readiness.
3. Risk Assessment & Governance
Lead enterprise-wide risk assessments covering operational, regulatory, IT/security, and third-party/vendor risks.
Conduct detailed gap assessments and design remediation roadmaps with measurable outcomes and timelines.
4. Policy & Framework Development
Drive the design and implementation of policies, SOPs, data governance frameworks, and internal control mechanisms aligned with regulatory and industry best practices.
Establish robust reporting structures and compliance dashboards for leadership visibility.
5. Client Engagement & Solutioning
Engage with clients to understand their technology, application architecture, and security landscape to deliver tailored compliance and risk solutions.
Translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable, and technology-aligned solutions.
6. Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing consulting teams, ensuring quality delivery, knowledge enhancement, and adherence to project timelines.
Build internal capability in emerging areas such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory technology (Reg Tech).
7. Pre-Sales & Business Development
Drive pre-sales initiatives including solutioning, proposal development, client presentations, and effort estimations.
Identify new business opportunities, support account growth, and contribute to revenue targets through cross-selling and upselling.
8. Thought Leadership
Contribute to industry thought leadership through whitepapers, regulatory insights, and participation in forums/events within the BFSI ecosystem.
Stay ahead of regulatory changes and market trends, proactively guiding clients and internal teams.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
Education and Experience: Education: B. Tech / equivalent required;
MBA preferred Experience: 12+ years in Risk & Compliance with experience leading large-scale regulatory and transformation programs Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of digital banking, payments, lending, wealth, and fintech ecosystems Certifications: CISA, ISO 27001, CRISC or similar (preferred) Industry Exposure: Experience across consulting firms, Banks, NBFCs, or fintech organizations Leadership & Regulatory Exposure: Proven experience in leading teams, managing CXO stakeholders, and handling regulatory audits/inspections
Skills and Competencies Required: Regulatory Expertise: Strong knowledge of RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, NPCI frameworks, Digital Lending, DPDPA, ISO 27001, BCP, and Information Security Risk & Compliance: Experience in enterprise risk assessments, audits, gap analysis, and governance framework design Program Leadership: Proven ability to lead end-to-end compliance and transformation programs Client Management: Strong stakeholder management with ability to engage CXOs and drive outcomes Technology Understanding: Good grasp of IT systems, security frameworks, and regulatory-tech alignment Team Leadership: Ability to lead, mentor, and build high-performing teams Pre-Sales & Growth: Experience in solutioning, proposals, and driving business opportunities Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving, structured thinking, and attention to detail
