RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Develop electrochemical model of lithium ion cells to predict voltage response with a robustness to cover different operating conditions of temperature, state of charge, and current.
  • Develop physics-based and/or electrochemical model of lithium ion cells to predict cell performance dependence on various cell designs and manufacturing variables such as coating thickness, material composition, coating processing. Apply the models to optimize cell design and manufacturing process. Develop aging model of lithium ion cells by empirical and/or physics-based models. Calibrate the aging model by design of experiments and validate the aging model by lab tests and/or field data. Apply aging model to predict battery lifetime and/or warranty for different operating conditions.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Master in electrochemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and equivalent
  • At least 3+ years of industrial experience in battery modelling
  • Experience in electrochemical modelling tools such as COMSOL, Battery Design Studio, Auto Lion, or other software tools.
  • Deep understanding of cell electrochemistry of lithium ion cells
  • Deep understanding of cell degradation mechanisms and failure modes
  • Experience in Matlab/Simulink

Desired

  • Ph D in battery electrochemistry, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering
  • Experience in BMS algorithm such as SOP, SOC, SOH
  • Experience in AI applications in design and manufacturing
