Position Overview Work Responsibilities As a Mercari Program Manager, you will lead large projects for the various Mercari projects that bridge departments and teams as well as take the lead in creating and carrying out plans for strategic initiatives.

Depending on the project, communication with teams in Japan, or teams in the US is necessary.  Not only will you identify issues in our product development processes, raise problems, and implement improvements, you will also promote the implementation and practical use of agile development for features where development spans more than one team.

Specific work responsibilities for this position include the following: Create and maintain organizational roadmap by engaging with the right stakeholders, facilitating discussions and establishing a regular check-in mechanism.

Drive quarterly planning by creating intake process to assess and prioritize requests.

Maintain organization-wide resource efficiency by managing resource mapping and creating processes to manage change requests.

Lead discussions to propose and maintain an optimized organizational structure for product and engineering teams to achieve business goals .

Lead large and complex projects/programs involving cross-functional departments and teams across Mercari Group for growing and improving our products.

Be accountable for the success of the overall project/program and coordinate the projects and their interdependencies between the various projects owned by other members.

Manage and collaborate with stakeholders across departments including product, engineering, compliance, CS etc.

for the successful outcome of projects.

Create and maintain the program/project roadmap and quarterly OKRs with the stakeholders including the executives.

Work backwards from target launch date to set action plans in each quarter and set up key milestones to achieve them.

Lead kick-off and subsequent business meetings during the course of the program/project.

Set up regular reporting mechanisms with stakeholders and ensure that regular meetings, slack channels, and dashboards are in place.

Anticipate and manage risks and issues using risk logs and issue logs and identify owners for each item.

Lead the recovery planning in case of delays.

In order to achieve our mission to “circulate all forms of value to unleash the potential in all people”, the program manager needs to work on bold strategies, plan and implement large projects, and work with a diverse set of people to achieve company objectives.

- The program manager needs to manage multiple stakeholders, at times negotiate competing interests across product and engineering teams, and facilitate communication and decision-making even in cases of ambiguity.

- The program manager needs to work on creating mechanisms to track and manage requests from different stakeholders, and manage quarterly planning with optimized resource allocation and capacity management.

Required Experience Shared understanding and belief in our company’s mission and values.

Project or program management experience of 5+ years and other relevant experience in IT, software development, or a related field.

Understanding of basic Agile principles and methodologies.

Work independently and thrive under ambiguity: Ability to work independently and lead quarterly planning and large-scale, cross-functional projects/programs in a fast-paced environment.

Experience driving projects forward, even when details are missing and direction is unclear.  Manage stakeholders and communications: Ability to understand and achieve the wider objectives of the organization, such as business and strategic goals.

Experience in negotiating competing interests and perspectives across product and software development teams and facilitating cross-cultural communication across a diverse group of stakeholders.

Enable visibility for the leadership: Ensure work is tracked in a transparent way.

Be comfortable working with business leaders and facilitating executive reporting.

Serve as a source of team stability: Possess a deep understanding of project management concepts related to planning, monitoring, and reporting.

Evangelize and drive improvements in these areas within your assigned area with stakeholders who may be unfamiliar with these concepts.

Work with your program management team members to help grow and mature our underlying processes.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in designing and implementing agile methodologies across large organizations Project management/agile certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), etc.
