Role Overview :
As a Software Developer, Windows Automation, you will be a key contributor to our Corporate Network OS Automation Services.
You will leverage your extensive knowledge of the Windows operating system and your strong development skills to design, build, and maintain automated solutions that enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance, and improve the overall stability and security of our Windows infrastructure.
This hybrid role will involve working on complex automation projects, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with various IT teams in a global enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Windows OS Expertise : Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Windows operating systems, providing deep technical insights and guidance for automation initiatives.
- Automation Design & Development : Design, develop, and implement robust automation scripts, tools, and solutions for Windows OS tasks, including but not limited to, system provisioning, configuration management, patching, security hardening, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Scripting & Programming : Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code primarily using Power Shell, with strong proficiency in other relevant languages like Python or C# for complex automation tasks.
- Tooling & Frameworks : Utilize and integrate with various automation tools and frameworks such as Power Shell DSC, Group Policy, SCCM, Ansible, Azure Automation, or similar.
- Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) : Contribute to the development and management of Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) for Windows environments, enabling consistent and repeatable deployments.
- Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis : Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures and underlying Windows OS issues, performing thorough root cause analysis.
- Process Improvement : Identify manual, repetitive tasks across the Windows infrastructure and propose, design, and implement automated solutions to streamline operations.
- Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for automation scripts, tools, and processes.
- Collaboration : Work closely with IT Operations, Network Engineering, Security, and other development teams to understand requirements, integrate solutions, and ensure smooth deployments.
- Version Control : Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development and code management.
- Continuous Improvement : Stay up-to-date with the latest Windows OS features, automation technologies, and industry best practices.
Skill Set :
- Windows OS SME : Demonstrated expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022) and Windows client OS.
- Power Shell Proficiency : Extensive experience in developing advanced Power Shell scripts for Windows automation, administration, and system configuration.
- Development/Automation Skills : Strong background in software development principles applied to automation, with proficiency in at least one other relevant language (Python, C#).
- Windows Services & Features : Deep understanding of core Windows services, roles (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS), and networking configurations.
- Multi-threading & Error Handling : Experience with multi-threading, error handling, and robust script design for production environments.
- APIs & Integrations : Experience with REST APIs and integrating with various systems and tools.
- Configuration Management Tools : Hands-on experience with configuration management tools such as Power Shell DSC, Group Policy, or enterprise automation platforms (e.g., SCCM, Ansible, Azure Automation).
- Networking Fundamentals : Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Firewalls, Load Balancing) as they apply to Windows environments.
- Security Best Practices : Knowledge of Windows security hardening techniques and compliance standards.
- Version Control : Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving : Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive solutions.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in Windows OS administration/engineering combined with software development or automation.
Skill Set :
- Windows OS SME with Development/Automation skills.
- Support Corporate Network OS Automation Services.
